How Does Microchipping Work?
A common misconception is that microchips function like GPS devices. They do not provide a pet owner with any tracking capabilities; however, they serve as an excellent means for pet identification. If an animal shelter or vet find your pet, they could wave an RFID scanner across their body where the microchip is embedded and get an account number. When they have this information they can quickly contact the ID company and the company will contact the pet owner from the information logged in their system.
Dog Microchipping
A dog microchip is injected under a dog’s skin between their shoulders. They incredibly small objects and should not cause your dog any pain or discomfort. It only takes our veterinary professionals a few moments to implant a microchip. One of the most significant benefits of dog microchips is that they will remain under you companion’s skins for their entire life.
Cat Microchipping
There are plenty of cats owners who allow their pets to roam freely on their property. Cats have a knack for finding their way back home. Unfortunately, just like dogs, cats can also lose their bearings when they are away from your property. A cats microchip is inserted under a pet’s skin using a syringe. Just as is the case with dogs, it is usually implanted in between their shoulder blades and only takes a few seconds. They will stay under your cat’s skin for their entire life.

This company has revolutionized the pet recovery process by creating a superior method for helping lost pets find their way home safely. Other standard pet recovery systems require the microchip to be read by either a scanner or from an animal identification tag, which is called into a microchip database. From there, the company operator will attempt to connect the individual who found the pet with the pet owner by telephone. Common problems with these systems are the inability to connect people by phone, illegible tags, and having to search through several registries to find the correct one. With a Save This Life system, you will not have any of these issues. Each Save This Life microchip number is searchable in a Google™ search. When a pet finder does a Google™ search of the microchip number, they will be able to contact the pet owner by sending a text message and an email. The pet owner will also GPS powered by Google Maps™ of where the pet finder is located.
