Every year, there are breakthroughs in the world of veterinary medicine. Everhart Veterinary Hospital never stops growing, as we are always eager to learn about new practices and are continually investing in new kinds of technologies. We recently expanded to a beautifully designed, state of the art complex. Some of the features of this facility include an expansive reception area with multiple seating options, digital radiology, diagnostic ultrasonography, numerous surgical suites, full dental suite with radiography, therapeutic laser treatments, and a complete in-house laboratory. By having a laboratory on-site, we have access to immediate results for pets who require emergency or urgent care.
Understanding Your Pets Lab Work
We frequently give our blood and urine test to monitor how patients respond to our medical treatments. They are also helpful when trying to diagnosis the causes of your pet’s illness and necessary for preventative care.
Complete Blood Count
A blood count is the most common test performed on pets by veterinarians. If your pet is showing symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, we will likely give them this test.
It can provide information on the following:
- Anemia
- Infection
- Immune system response
- Blood clotting ability
- Hydration levels
- Blood Chemistries
We provide our patient’s blood serum tests to evaluate hormone levels, organ function, and electrolyte status.
